GTA 6 Price: What We Know

Last updated: October 3, 2026

Rockstar Games officially announced the price of Grand Theft Auto VI shortly before pre-orders opened in June 2026. The Standard Edition costs $79.99 and the Ultimate Edition costs $99.99 in the United States. This page explains what those numbers mean, how the editions differ, how prices may appear in other countries, what is and is not included and how to think about value.

Announced Prices

EditionUS PriceNotes
Standard Edition$79.99The base game
Ultimate Edition$99.99Adds premium vehicles, weapons, apparel and other in-game content

These figures were reported widely following Rockstar’s announcement. The $79.99 price puts GTA 6 among the most expensive standard console games, above the traditional $69.99 mark that many publishers used in recent years.

What Is in the Ultimate Edition?

Rockstar described the Ultimate Edition as an exclusive collection of premium vehicles, weapons, apparel and action woven throughout Jason and Lucia’s story. Specific contents can be confirmed on the official store pages. Since the price difference is $20, the key question is whether those extras interest you. If you mainly want the story and the open world, the Standard Edition covers the core game.

Pre-Order Extras

According to reports, all pre-orders include a bonus pack called the Vintage Vice City Pack, and digital pre-orders include one month of GTA+ and access to pre-loading from November 12, 2026. If the extras matter to you, read the exact conditions on the store page, including any deadline. See our pre-order guide.

Prices Outside the United States

We have only seen a US price in the announcement coverage we reviewed. Prices in other countries depend on the store, currency, taxes and regional pricing rules. Some outlets estimated that UK pricing might mirror the dollar figure in pounds, but that was speculation. For Pakistan, India and other regions, check the local PlayStation Store or Xbox store, where the official local price is shown at checkout. Do not trust conversion calculators for the final amount, since taxes and regional pricing differ.

Is It Worth the Price?

This is a personal decision, but a few facts may help:

  • GTA 5 remained a big seller for over a decade, which suggests long-lasting value for the franchise.
  • Rockstar’s open-world games typically offer dozens of hours of story and many more of exploration.
  • Rockstar described the launch game as a single-player experience, so the value is focused on the story and world rather than multiplayer.
  • Waiting is an option: prices of console games commonly drop after a year or two, but a game this big may hold its price longer.

Subscription Services

We have not seen an announcement placing GTA 6 into PlayStation Plus or Xbox Game Pass at launch. Do not assume the game will be included in any subscription at release.

Physical vs Digital

Reports say physical copies include a download code rather than a disc, so the price decision is mostly about where you buy, not about owning a disc. Retail stores may offer different promotions, trade-in credits or gift cards. Compare the total, including shipping and taxes.

How to Avoid Overpaying

  • Compare official stores and authorized retailers.
  • Avoid sellers who offer large discounts on keys. These may be fraudulent.
  • Watch for retailer promotions, such as store credit for pre-ordering.
  • Remember that bonuses may disappear after a certain date.

What About PC?

There is no PC version announced, so there is no PC price. Read the PC release guide to learn what is known.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is $79.99 final? It is the announced US launch price. Stores may run promotions, but the list price is what Rockstar set.

Will there be a cheaper edition later? Nothing has been announced.

Are there microtransactions? Rockstar has not detailed them in the announcement coverage we reviewed. We will update our news page if details appear.

How the Price Compares

For years, standard console games cost $59.99, then $69.99 for many major releases. At $79.99, GTA 6 follows a trend toward higher prices for blockbuster titles, and published coverage noted it as only the second game with an $80 standard edition after a major Nintendo release. Some analysts had argued that higher prices benefit publishers across the industry. For players, the cost per hour of entertainment may still compare well to other media if the campaign and world are as large as expected, but that is a judgment each person has to make. Whatever you decide, buy from official sellers and keep your receipt.

Regional Pricing Examples

Global pricing for big console games usually differs by region because of taxes, currencies and local market decisions. Some countries receive a price set in local currency that does not match a simple conversion of the dollar price, and a few get lower regional pricing. We have not found an official list of regional prices in the coverage we reviewed, so we do not publish one. When you are comparing, make sure that the store you use matches the region of your console account, because changing region later can complicate purchases and refunds. If you are unsure, ask the store’s support before you buy.
