GTA 6 PC Release Date

Last updated: October 3, 2026

One of the most common questions about Grand Theft Auto VI is whether and when it will come to PC. As of this writing, Rockstar Games has not announced a PC version. The game’s confirmed platforms are PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with a release date of November 19, 2026. This guide explains what has been said officially, what history suggests and how PC players can plan without falling for fake dates.

What Rockstar and Take-Two Have Said

Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick has addressed the question in interviews. He said that Rockstar historically starts with some platforms and then expands to others, and he acknowledged that PC has become a much more important part of the business, noting that PC can make up a large share of sales for some multi-platform releases. He also said the company’s focus at launch is the console audience. These comments are not a release date, and they are not an official PC announcement. Rockstar itself, not Take-Two executives in interviews, is the one that announces platforms.

What History Tells Us

Rockstar’s recent major releases arrived on PC well after the console versions:

  • Grand Theft Auto IV: released on consoles in April 2008 and on PC in December 2008, about seven months later.
  • Grand Theft Auto V: released on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in September 2013, and on PC in April 2015, about 19 months later.
  • Red Dead Redemption 2: released on consoles in October 2018 and on PC in November 2019, about a year later.

The gap has varied, but a PC version has followed each time. That pattern is why many players expect GTA 6 to reach PC eventually. It does not tell us the date, and it does not prove it will happen in the same way.

Rumors and Speculation About Timing

Some outlets have speculated that a PC version could arrive in the first part of 2027, based on remarks made during Take-Two earnings calls about the company’s upcoming release schedule. Those remarks did not name GTA 6 for PC, so this is analysis, not confirmation. Others expect a gap closer to a year. Treat any specific PC date you see on social media as unverified until Rockstar posts it on its official channels.

Why Would PC Come Later?

There are several reasons companies stagger releases. Console hardware is fixed, so developers can optimize for one configuration. PC has thousands of hardware combinations, which means more testing and tuning. A staggered release also lets a publisher maximize console sales around launch. Finally, the PC version can add features, higher-resolution options and performance modes after the console release is stable.

What PC Players Should Do Now

  • Do not buy hardware yet because of a rumor. There are no official PC requirements. Our estimated PC requirements are a planning tool only.
  • Keep your drivers and Windows updated. Good habits now save time later.
  • Plan for storage. Rockstar games are large. A fast SSD with plenty of free space is the safest assumption. See our Can I Run GTA 6? guide.
  • Watch official sources. Rockstar’s website and social channels will announce any PC version first.
  • Consider playing on console. If you already own a PS5 or Xbox Series X|S, you can play at launch.

Beware of Fake PC Downloads

Every big game attracts fake “PC download” pages, cracked installers, “leaked builds” and key generators. These are common ways to spread malware and steal accounts. Since there is no official PC version, any site offering one is not legitimate. Never run unknown installers, and never enter your Rockstar, Steam, Epic or email passwords on pages you reached through a search result or social post.

Will There Be a PC Version at All?

Rockstar has not said, but the business logic and company history make it widely expected. The honest summary is: likely eventually, date unknown, and not at launch. When Rockstar announces anything, we will update this page and our news page.

How to Follow PC News Without Getting Misled

PC release rumors spread quickly because the audience is large. A few habits make it easier to avoid false hope. First, check whether the claim names a source. Second, see whether Rockstar’s official site or social accounts say the same thing. Third, be suspicious of screenshots of store pages that are not live, since fake storefront images circulate before every big launch. Finally, remember that statements about “the business” are not announcements about “this game”. When Rockstar does announce a PC version, expect a trailer or a post that includes the platform, the store and a date or window, along with official minimum and recommended specifications. Until then, our news page will track what is confirmed and what is only discussion.
